According to a March 4, 1975 issue of The Gettysburg Times, ABC programmed “Trilogy of Terror” (1975) in-between an episode of “Happy Days” (titled “Fonzie Joins the Band”) and an episode of “Marcus Welby, M.D.” (titled “Dark Corridors”). During the original March 4, 1975 prime-time airing of the “ABC Tuesday Movie of the Week”/”Trilogy of Terror,” the alphabet network & Dan Curtis’ classic mammoth 1975 made-for-TV horror-thriller masterpiece was shown opposite an episode of “M*A*S*H” (titled “Payday”) and the First Annual “People’s Choice Awards” on CBS and the Columbia Pictures made-for-TV movie production of “The Last Survivors” (1975) on NBC.

In one of his few on-screen appearances, Edmiston later played the role of General Douglas MacArthur in the 10th episode of Dan Curtis’ classic mammoth critically-acclaimed Emmy-Award winning ABC TV wartime drama masterpiece miniseries, “War and Remembrance: Part X” (1989).

Dan Curtis’ “Trilogy of Terror” (1975) might have been partially inspired by several earlier classic mammoth horror anthology feature film masterpiece productions
For Dan Curtis’ classic mammoth 1975 ABC made-for-TV horror/thriller anthology masterpiece production of “Trilogy of Terror,” an anthology of three different stories for the four characters that Karen Black portrayed in the production were written by William F. Nolan and Richard Matheson; according to IMDB. Nolan’s screenplays and Matheson’s original story concepts might have been inspired by several earlier classic mammoth feature film and/or television horror-thriller masterpiece productions.
One of the earlier productions was Roger Corman‘s classic mammoth horror-thriller masterpiece production for Samuel Z. Arkoff and James H. Nicholson‘s American-International Pictures featuring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Basil Rathbone, Debra Paget, Maggie Pierce, Joyce Jameson, Leona Gage and of interest to fellow Super Tooners/Super SvenPals of Toony & Bill’s “Toon In With Me;” Lennie Weinrib (who provided the vocal stylings in the classic mammoth Mirisch-United Artists “Roland and Rattfink” cartoon masterpieces): “Tales of Terror” (1962). Adapted from three short stories written by Edgar Allan Poe, Richard Matheson wrote the screenplay adaptations of Poe’s short stories for Corman’s 1962 production: according to IMDB.
Another might have been Peter Duffell‘s classic mammoth Amicus supernatural horror-thriller masterpiece production with Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Jon Pertwee (of BBC’s “Doctor Who” fame), Ingrid Pitt, Denholm Elliott, John Bennett and Robert Lang; “The House that Dripped Blood” (1971); which contained four different horror stories; consisting of three written by Robert Bloch and one written by Russ Jones; according to additional details from IMDB. The production of “The House That Dripped Blood” (1971) was released theatrically in the United States through Cinerama Releasing Corporation.
The difference between “Tales of Terror” (1962) and “The House That Dripped Blood” (1971) was that the four stories revolved around one house in Britain. In Sven/Rich Koz’s days as the Son of Svengoolie, he previously showcased “The House That Dripped Blood” (1971) back in 1984 on WFLD in Berwyn/Chicago, according to Berwyn/Chicago television archivist Rick Klein’s official FuzzyMemoriesTV: “The Museum of Classic Chicago Television” YouTube site. Pertwee later made a guest appearance on a Sven/Son of Sven WFLD big broadcast during a Chicago Doctor Who convention shortly after Sven/Son of Sven’s big broadcast of “The House That Dripped Blood.“
The Zuni figurine in Dan Curtis’ ABC production of “Trilogy of Terror” (1975)
For the production of “Trilogy of Terror” (1975); a custom-made Zuni figurine/Zuni puppet was made for Curtis’ classic mammoth 1975 ABC television horror-thriller feature masterpiece production, according to additional details from IMDB’s trivia section. The Zuni figurine/puppet was designed by veteran special effects technician Erik von Buelow; who also worked on the special effects for two classic mammoth Bert I. Gordon/American-International special effects thriller adaptation masterpieces of H.G. Wells‘ “The Food of the Gods” (1976) and “Empire of the Ants” (1977) Buelow was credited as a “puppet master” for Curtis’ 1975 ABC production.
During the Zuni sequences, it was reported that members of the production were amused when elements of the Zuni puppet figurine, notably arms and/or legs fell off of the puppet figurine for each sequence and had to be re-attached/reconstructed onto the figurine for each sequence.
“Trilogy of Terror” (1975) was not cleared for prime-time by several ABC stations from coast-to-coast
It was reported that several ABC affiliates form coast-to-coast made the decision not to air Dan Curtis’ classic mammoth 1975 made-for-TV horror/thriller masterpiece for the network, according to a March 17, 1975 issue of Broadcasting (Broadcasting and Cable). Some of the affiliates were concerned and felt that ABC’s airing of “Trilogy of Terror” (1975) would scare off viewers in prime-time; yet ABC placed a viewer discretion disclaimer in original commercials for Curtis’ production; according to a latter syndicated commercial for “Trilogy of Terror” that was unearthed on YouTube.
Several ABC affiliates decided to delay Curtis’ “Trilogy of Terror” (1975) by airing it in the Latenight timeslot in place of ABC’s then-Latenight programming lineup, “Wide World of Entertainment” in New Orleans, Louisiana (WVUE, which was affiliated with ABC until 1995); Miami, Florida (WPLG); Milwaukee, Wisconsin (WITI, which was affiliated with ABC until 1977) and Fresno, California (KJEO/KGPE, which was affiliated with ABC until 1985– when the network moved to KFSN as a result of the Capital Cities/ABC merger).
The only ABC station that declined to show the original 1975 network airing of “Trilogy of Terror” (1975) in any timeslot was Duluth, Minnesota’s ABC affiliate (and future Me-TV affiliate) WDIO-TV.
