The legendary Berwyn/Chicago-based horror/monster film host will present his big broadcast showcase of “The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb” (1964), this Sat.; Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central on Me-TV.
“The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb” (1964) was directed by veteran Hammer producer-director-writer Michael Carreras, who also wrote the screenplay under the pseudonym of Henry Younger, according to IMDB. Carreras was the son of Hammer studio head James Carreras; according to Rob Nixon’s Turner Classic Movies online article on the 1964 classic Hammer-Columbia “Mummy” horror/monster masterpiece. The junior Carreras also produced numerous Hammer horror/monster feature film masterpieces throughout his career, including “The Curse of Frankenstein” (1957), “Horror of Dracula” (1958), “The Mummy” (1959), “The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll” (1960) and “The Curse of the Werewolf” (1961). Carreras also produced the 1964 Hammer-Columbia classic monster masterpiece with associate producer William Hill. Carreras wanted his 1964 production to be filmed as a memorable production without the use of lavish budgets and was produced as a sequel to Terence Fisher’s Hammer adaptation of “The Mummy” (1959, released by Universal Studios) with Hammer legends Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
This will mark Sven’s second big broadcast of “The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb” (1964) on Me-TV. He previously showcased Carreras’ 1964 Hammer-Columbia classic monster masterpiece as a big broadcast premiere back in July 2019.
