The classic mammoth 1972 American-International thriller sequel masterpiece installment was directed by feature film director-screenwriter-production designer Robert Fuest. Fuest previously worked on seven episodes of the classic mammoth British action-adventure-spy masterpiece series with Patrick Macnee, “The Avengers” (Fuest directed seven episodes of the aforementioned series from 1968–69). Fuest also worked on the classic American-International Pictures modern screen romantic drama masterpiece adaptation of Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights” (1970) with Anna Calder-Marshall, Timothy Dalton, Judy Cornwell (later of “Keeping Up Appearances” fame), Peter Sallis and John Comer (who also appeared with Sallis in “Last of the Summer Wine,” Comer appeared on the series from 1973 until his death in 1983). Fuest also directed the cult classic mammoth Bryanston horror-thriller-supernatural feature film masterpiece; “The Devil’s Rain” (1975) with William Shatner, Ida Lupino, Ernest Borgnine, Eddie Albert, Keenan Wynn, young John Travolta and Woodrow “Woody” Chambliss.
Fuest previously directed his earlier classic mammoth American-International Pictures (AIP) thriller masterpiece production of “The Abominable Dr. Phibes” (1971) with Vincent Price, according to IMDB.
Fuest also co-wrote the screenplay for his classic mammoth “Dr. Phibes” follow-up thriller masterpiece for American-International Pictures with veteran screenwriter Robert Blees. The same year that Blees co-wrote the screenplay with Fuest for the 1972 American-International classic mammoth “Dr. Phibes” thriller sequel masterpiece, Blees co-wrote another screenplay with veteran screenwriter Robert Hutchison for George McCowan’s classic mammoth American-International Pictures (AIP) sci-fi/supernatural thriller masterpiece production with Ray Milland, young Sam Elliott, Joan Van Ark, Judy Pace, Adam Roarke, David Gilliam, Mae Mercer and Nicholas Cortland; “Frogs” (1972).
Fuest’s classic mammoth thriller masterpiece sequel production of “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972) was produced and released by Samuel Z. Arkoff and James H. Nicholson’s production-distribution-releasing firm, American-International Pictures (AIP)**. Both Arkoff and Nicholson co-produced Fuest’s classic mammoth 1972 American-International thriller masterpiece production with veteran producer Louis M. Heyward; who previously co-produced “The Abominable Dr. Phibes” (1971) with Arkoff and Nicholson. During Nicholson’s final years at American-International, he often had personal and professional disagreements with co-founder Samuel Z. Arkoff. After 1972, Nicholson then worked for a brief while for rival studio Twentieth Century Fox (Twentieth Century Studios), but was short-lived, as Nicholson’s health declined due to a brain tumor later that year; according to Eamon Harrington and John Watkin’s retrospective documentary on American-International Pictures titled; “It Conquered Hollywood! The Story of American International Pictures” (2001). Arkoff continued operating American-International Pictures until he sold the AIP to television production-syndication firm Filmways in 1979, according to a 1979 edition of Broadcasting (Broadcasting and Cable).
In Svengoolie’s home area of Berwyn/Chicago, Illinois; he previously showcased “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972) as a Berwyn/Chicago big broadcast premiere on his hometown television station, WCIU-TV 26/”The U” back in March 2009; according to IMDB.

Caroline Munro also appeared in the role of Laura Bellows in the production of “Dracula A.D., 1972” (1972). She also played the role of Margiana in Ray Harryhausen and Gordon Hessler’s classic mammoth Columbia Pictures “Dynamation” fantasy stop-motion creature masterpiece production of “The Golden Voyage of Sinbad” (1973) with John Phillip Law, a pre-“Doctor Who” Tom Baker, Robert Shaw, Douglas Wilmer, Martin Shaw, Grégoire Aslan, Kurt Christian and Takis Emmanuel.
A veteran broadcaster of the Los Angeles broadcast radio airlanes throughout the majority of his career, veteran radio broadcast disc jockey/personality and radio/film/TV and voice-over announcer Gary Owens was best known for being the announcer with the famous phrase of “Coming to you from Beautiful Downtown Burbank” in George Schlatter, Dan Rowan and Dick Martin’s classic mammoth NBC television comedy-satire-variety masterpiece series, “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In” (1968-73). Owens was also known for his vocal stylings for the character of Space Ghost in the classic mammoth Hanna-Barbera TV cartoon masterpiece series, “Space Ghost” (1966-68). Alongside appearing in Fuest’s earlier classic mammoth American-International masterpiece adaptation production of Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights” (1970), John Comer later rose to fame on British television for his role of café owner Sid in Roy Clarke’s classic mammoth long-running BBC television comedy masterpiece series with Peter Sallis (of “Wallace and Gromit” fame), Bill Owen, Michael Bates (until 1975), Jane Freeman and Brian Wilde (after 1975), “Last of the Summer Wine.” Comer appeared in the series in the role of café owner Sid from 1973 until his death in 1983; both Freeman; who portrayed Ivy, the wife of Comer’s character of Sid and Sallis; who portrayed Norman “Cleggy” Clegg appeared in the series from 1973 until the conclusion of the series in 2010. Robert Quarry rose to greater fame before American-International’s “Dr. Phibes” sequel production, notably for his title roles of Count Yorga in Bob Kelljan’s classic mammoth American-International monster-vampire masterpiece production of “Count Yorga, Vampire” (1970) with Roger Perry, Michael Murphy and Judy Lang and in Kelljan’s classic mammoth American-International vampire monster sequel masterpiece production of “The Return of Count Yorga” (1971).
Original working titles for “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972)
The original working titles for Fuest’s classic mammoth American-International thriller sequel masterpiece production of “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972) with Vincent Price was “Dr Phibes Returns;” according to additional details from the American Film Institute.
Vincent Price’s disagreements during the production of “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972)
According to additional details from IMDB’s trivia section, it was reported that Vincent Price had many disagreements during the production of Robert Fuest’s classic mammoth American-International thriller sequel masterpiece production of “Dr. Phibes Rises Again.” Price and Robert Quarry did not get along well during the production fo Fuest’s “Dr. Phibes” sequel for AIP. This was due to the part that Price had learned that Quarry was being considered to replace Price as American-International’s major horror/thriller/macabre feature film personality; which did not sit well with the veteran actor.
To ease tensions, Quarry decided to sing some opera songs to Price, which was a surprise to the veteran actor. It was reported that Quarry mentioned to Price that he bet that the veteran actor wasn’t aware of Quarry’s own singing of Opera. Price was insulted at Quarry’s response and even mentioned an expletive towards AIP’s new actor.
“Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972): Originally intended as a sequel/follow-up with another American-International horror character
The American-International production of “Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972) was originally intended as a vehicle not only for Vincent Price’s characterization of Dr. Anton Phibes, but was also intended as a production for one of the other American-International feature film characters at the time. According to additional details from IMDB, it was reported that American-International wanted Robert Quarry’s characterization of Count Yorga to return for the 1972 “Dr. Phibes” sequel production to team up with Phibes. Along with Quarry’s and Vincent Price’s real-life feuds, the plan was dropped and Quarry was re-cast in the role of Darrius Biderbeck.

**“Dr. Phibes Rises Again” (1972) is part of the modern incarnation of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)’s ownership of the majority of the American-International Pictures/Filmways Productions/Orion Pictures holdings. Samuel Z. Arkoff sold American-International Pictures to television and feature film production-distribution-syndication company Filmways in 1979, which was later acquired by Orion Pictures in 1982. Orion, along with the majority of the American-International (AIP)/Filmways holdings was then sold to the present incarnation of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) in 1997. Following MGM’s re-activation of the “Orion Pictures” moniker, the modern incarnation of MGM recently revived the “American-International Pictures” (AIP) moniker for certain theatrical releases/feature film productions. –C.H.

Sat., May 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central for those who can receive Me-TV*
*To paraphrase a classic promotional phrase for another network: “I want my Me-TV!”
And again, after additional attempts at trying to receive Baltimore’s WBAL-TV 11 (11.2 for Me-TV) and/or Lancaster/York’s WGAL-8 (8.2 for Me-TV over-the-air- still no success at receiving any of the over-the-air signals, since Weigel’s WDME is difficult to receive as well.
And again, I absolutely wish Me-TV would immediately offer the Live-Streaming option of Weigel’s WDME/Me-TV network feed on the official Me-TV app for the Frederick, Maryland/Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia viewing region! Since they do offer the option of Live-Streaming on the Me-TV app for Weigel’s Me-TV-owned stations in Weigel’s home market of Berwyn/Chicago, Illinois and Weigel’s Me-TV-owned stations in Waxahachie/Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California- I do hope they offer the option of Live-Streaming for Weigel’s WDME on the official Me-TV app for the Frederick, Maryland/Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia area soon!
I also wish that there were low-powered over-the-air relay stations of Weigel’s WDME within the greater Frederick, Maryland/Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia region to fill in coverage gaps too!
Also, this has been the second week that Me-TV has been missing from my cable lineup since the recent transition to the new WDME-48. And yet, after additional/multiple attempts at communicating with Comcast, they are still ignorant in restoring Me-TV via Weigel’s WDME to all cable tiers. And again, that ridiculous/sneaky Comcast pop-up where it states “You need to subscribe to HD in order to watch this channel” is showing up on the channel placement for WDME’s Me-TV network feed via WDME-48.
Again, as I’ve stated before- Comcast should be ashamed of themselves for doing these unfair tricks to WDME/Me-TV- One should NOT have to pay extra to watch Me-TV! Again, this should NOT happen to any popular broadcast network affiliate and/or subchannel on cable! Shame on Comcast and whoever is running their Frederick/Washington cluster! –C.H.
This is why I wish there was another cable/internet provider within my neck of the woods.
I’ve also tried the “Free2View” app without any success on Roku- it always crashes/freezes every time I use the app, even after the latest Roku system updates and re-installing “Free2View.” The “FrindlyTV” app sounded very promising at first- yet unfortunately, it wasn’t what I had hoped for. When trying to sign-up for the free 7-day trial version of “Frindly,” they wanted me to agree to one of their paid packages upon sign-up. And to make matters worse, Roku wanted me to pay extra for the “Frindly” app with a “RokuPay” paywall for no clear reason. I wonder- how is that a “trial?”
I miss all my fellow Super Svengoolie-Sventoonie SvenPals/fellow Super “Toon In With Me” Tooners! I just want my Me-TV back so I can re-join my fellow Super SvenPals/Super Tooners in the Live-tweeting airlanes- I’m missing all of you! Again, if any new updates occur- I will update/inform all of you.
And I highly appreciate everyone’s help/advice in this & everyone saving my seat for the Sven, “Sventoonie” & “Toon In” big broadcasts -again, I’m missing you all- peace & “Hi-Keeba” in spirit at the current moment. –C.H.
