Robert Z’Dar (who played Yamashita in “Samurai Cop”) appeared in two Z-budget films that were riffed by Mike Nelson and the bots on MST3K, “Soultaker” (episode #1001) and “Future War” (episode #1004). Both “Soultaker” and “Future War” aired in 1999 during the show’s 10th (and final) season on the Sci-Fi Channel (now known as “Syfy”).
Fellow fans of MST3K (or “MSTies”) and RiffTrax will be excited about an upcoming “cheesy movie” tradition on Thanksgiving day.

Best Brains, Inc./Shout! Factory
All episodes will have special “Turkey Day” wraparounds by series creator and first host of the cult series, Joel Hodgson. Hodgson will also be joined by Jonah Ray, who will be the new host of the MST3K revival (under the character of Jonah Heston). The revival of MST3K is already in production and will be available on Netflix.

You will not want to miss out on this fine feast of cheesy low-budget movies, with the fine art of riffing (through the courtesy of Joel, Mike and the bots).

Several familiar faces will make cameo appearances in the revival of MST3K
In addition to Jonah Ray (as Jonah Heston), Felicia Day (as evil overlord Kinga Forrester), Baron Vaughn (as the third voice of robot companion Tom Servo), Hampton Yount (as the third voice of robot companion Crow T. Robot) and veteran comedian/writer Patton Oswalt (as “Son of TV’s Frank), several familiar MST3K cast members will make cameo appearances in the new series.
It was announced that Bill Corbett, Mary Jo Pehl and Kevin Murphy will make cameo appearances in the reboot of the series, along with original host and series creator Joel Hodgson (according to an official Netflix press release).
Netflix: The new home of the MST3K reboot
The reboot of “Mystery Science Theater 3000” will be part of Netflix and their stable of critically acclaimed original television series offered on the streaming service, including “House of Cards.”
SIDEBAR: “Silver Screen Reflections” hopes that the new MST3K will be a success on Netflix, with new riffs of other cheesy low-budget motion pictures. When the new MST3K is released on the paid streaming video platform, it might be a good time to use the free month trial, which is good for one month (for those that haven’t used Netflix before).
