Fellow fans of MST3K in the Washington-metropolitan area will be excited when two icons will make a live appearance at the end of March.
Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff’s “The Mads are Back” live nationwide movie riffing tour is coming to the Alamo Drafthouse in Ashburn, Virginia
“Mystery Science Theater 3000” alums and veteran comedians Trace Beaulieu (who played mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester and was the first voice of Crow T. Robot) and Frank Conniff (who played mad scientist “TV’s Frank” on the series) will be bringing their nationwide movie riffing show, “The Mads are Back!” to Alamo Drafthouse’s One Loudoun cinema in Ashburn, Virginia on Fri., March 31 and Sat., April 1 at 7:30 p.m.
According to the official website for “The Mads Are Back,” both performances will have two different movies (the films that they will riff have not been divulged), along with pre-show and after-show “meet and greet” appearances!
Both comedians started their successful live movie riffing showcase tour in 2015. Before they started “The Mads Are Back,” Beaulieu and Conniff were part of another post-MST3K movie riffing troupe, “Cinematic Titanic,” along with fellow MST3K alums Joel Hodgson, Mary Jo Pehl and J. Elvis Weinstein. “Cinematic Titanic” lasted from 2007 to 2013.
They have also appeared on “RiffTrax” (during the “RiffTrax Live! MST3K Reunion Show” event back in June) with MST3K alums Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett (along with Hodgson, Pehl, Bridget Nelson and new MST3K host Jonah Ray). It was announced recently that Beaulieu and Conniff will make an appearance at RiffTrax’s upcoming “Summer Shorts Beach Party” (as part of the RiffTrax crew’s recent Kickstarter fundraiser).
Frank and Trace’s cameo appearance on “Svengoolie” (on Me-TV)
Both “mads” made a special cameo appearance back in June on “Svengoolie” (during Sven’s presentation of the 1946 Universal Studios thriller, “She-Wolf of London” on Me-TV). Frank and Trace also appeared in Sven’s music video of “The Svengoolie Stomp” (performed by Sven and Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon, which premiered in Sept.)!
“Movie Sign with the Mads” podcast on Cave Comedy Radio
Recently, Frank, Trace and Carolina Hidalgo have been doing their own movie podcast series on Cave Comedy Radio, discussing everything from cinematic classics and unusual films, titled “Movie Sign with the Mads.”
Fellow MSTies and fans of RiffTrax in the Washington-metropolitan area will not want to miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Frank and Trace in person (as part of their nationwide movie riffing tour, “The Mads Are Back”)!
